Skoda 110R
Thursday 03 April 2014
The Škoda 110 R was a rear-engined, rear-wheel drive car that was produced by Czechoslovakian manufacturer AZNP in Kvasiny, between 1970 and 1980. During those ten years, a total of 56,902 coupés were made.
The 110R Coupé succeeded the sporty Škoda 1000 MBX/1100 MBX. It used all the same mechanical components as the Škoda 100/110 saloons but with an uprated 62 bhp (46 kW) SAE, 52 bhp (39 kW) (DIN) version of Škoda’s 720-type OHV four-cylinder 1.1-litre (1,107cc) engine. With a four-speed manual gearbox, the 110 R could reach a top speed of 145kmh and accelerate to 100kmh in 18.5 seconds.
Its design closely mirrored that of the related 100 saloon, but with only two doors and a distinctive fastback rear. Most of the vehicles featured four headlights, but the earliest models had only two.
In motorsport, this basic configuration was punched out to make the rally-specific homologation 130 RS, and one-off 1.8-liter OHC 180 RS and 2.0-liter OHC 200 RS specials. The ultimate evolution came in 1975, Bořivoj Kořínek’s fuel-injected, 250hp 2000 MI “Grenade.”

Skoda Octavia Scout
Monday 27 June 2011
The second generation of Octavia was introduced in March 2004, based on the Volkswagen Group A5 (PQ35) platform also used by other Volkswagen Group cars, including the Audi A3 II, VW Golf Mk5, VW Jetta Mk5, SEAT León II, SEAT Altea, VW Golf Plus, VW Touran and VW Tiguan. Along with a new internal combustion engine range, also shared with other models of the Volkswagen Group, body changes included more legroom for rear seat passengers (a weak point in the original model) and increased ground clearance at front and rear to reduce the risk of grounding on steep ramps or facing kerbs.
In addition to the Czech factories in Mladá Boleslav and Vrchlabi, from 2008 the Octavia has also been produced at a factory in Bratislava, Slovakia, as well as Shanghai (under the joint venture of Shanghai Volkswagen).
In India, the second-generation Octavia is marketed as the Laura to distinguish it from the first generation. The car is marketed in a segment higher, and is sold alongside the pre-gen octavia.
There are two four-wheel drive versions of the Octavia - the 4x4 and the Scout, both featuring a Haldex Traction four-wheel drive system, based on a computer-controlled clutch centre coupling. The two models both have higher ground clearance than the standard Octavia - increased by 24 millimetres (0.9 in) for the 4x4 and 40 millimetres (1.6 in) for the Scout. The Scout (announced 2006) is only available with the estate body style, and has some SUV crossover style exterior modifications such as larger bumpers.
Responsible for the design were Thomas Ingenlath and Peter Wouda.
